HairHelper

by H&H Wellness

The world's first adaptive hair tie engineered for women with frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis), stroke-related shoulder weakness, spinal cord injuries, and those recovering from shoulder surgery. HairHelper restores the simple, dignified act of styling your own hair — without assistance and without overhead arm movement.

HairHelper works as a hybrid scrunchie-headband: slip it over your head like a headband, glide it to the crown, press the clasp and pull the cords to tighten. To release, press the clasp and gently pull to loosen. Designed to work with your body at every stage of mobility.

Designed For

Who HairHelper Helps

🧊

Frozen Shoulder

Adhesive capsulitis severely limits overhead range of motion. HairHelper eliminates the need to raise arms above shoulder height.

🧠

Stroke Recovery

For women with post-stroke hemiplegia or reduced upper limb function, HairHelper works as a true ADL aid — one-hand compatible.

🩹

Shoulder Surgery Recovery

Rotator cuff repair, shoulder replacement, and other procedures leave months of restricted motion. HairHelper works throughout recovery.

Spinal Cord Injury

Women with cervical or thoracic SCI affecting upper extremity function can use HairHelper with minimal arm elevation and dexterity.

💪

Shoulder Impingement

Chronic pain shouldn't mean dependence on others for something as personal as styling your own hair.

Anyone Wanting Ease

HairHelper's one-step mechanism is faster and gentler than traditional ties — no crease, no breakage, no struggle.

Questions

Frequently Asked

What makes HairHelper different from a regular hair tie?
Unlike traditional hair ties or scrunchies, HairHelper doesn't require any overhead arm movement or repeated looping. It slides on like a headband and tightens with a single press-and-pull motion at the crown — specifically engineered for women who cannot raise their arms above their head.
Can HairHelper be used with one hand?
HairHelper is designed to be as one-hand-friendly as possible. The slip-on headband application requires minimal bilateral coordination, and the clasp-and-cord tightening mechanism is operable with limited dexterity. We continue refining the design with occupational therapist input ahead of launch.
When does HairHelper launch?
HairHelper is launching in June 2026. A waitlist is opening very soon — follow us or check back to be the first to know.
Is HairHelper covered by HSA or FSA?
We are actively exploring HSA/FSA eligibility for HairHelper as a qualified adaptive daily living aid. More details will be shared at launch.
What hair types does HairHelper work with?
HairHelper is designed for medium to long hair and works across a wide range of hair types and textures. We're finalizing sizing options — our goal is to serve as many women as possible, and sizing details will be announced closer to launch.
